Not exactly an informative, groundbreaking documentary about the creature that we are all watching it with the intent of seeing. The narrator is really frustrating and uneasy on the ear. Honestly, it was not only disappointing, but boring too with too many shots of a sea lapping the shore and fairly inane and generic shots of landscape which had no relevance or purpose (from what I could see. Some of the shots of the other sea life were pleasant but nothing previously unseen in any other documentary about similar topics. Grossly mislabelled and average in content. Don't bother. I really enjoyed this, I balled my eyes out at the end. What a beautiful story and bond. I do wish however he would of helped her and held her that last time. I know he said he was letting nature take it's place, but he is also part of nature and became part of her world, her friend for 3/4 of her life. Like in life we would help a human friend or pet, so why not a friend of the sea he visited every day for almost a year. That is his choice though and he will have to live with that the rest of his life. Octopus's are extremely intelegent creatures and he certainly captured that, I am glad I watched it, but in a way I wish I didn't because I it certainly pulled at the heart strings knowing I couldn't do anything.

The child has a school psychologist for a mother,big problem. This movie is profoundly effecting. For those who've seen March of the Penguins, in some ways, this film is even more awe-inspiring. I had a lump in my throat at moments, and tears streaming down my face at others. I will probably try to see if I can purchase a copy of this film, for my personal collection of all-time favorite movies. After watching this film, all I could think to myself, yet again, was. What the HELL are we humans doing to our planet and our amazing universe? How utterly short-sighted and SELFISH are we? When I think of all the electronic devices people feel compelled to 'upgrade' every I think of all the private vehicles clogging our densely-populated fact that private vehicles are, for the most part, actually getting Larger, vs smaller in size. When I think of how, for so many throughout the world, large homes, jumbo TVs, new clothing, going shopping just 'for the fun of it' are all signs of supposed 'success. to know that the polar ice caps are melting... wildfires raging and hurricane seasons growing longer and more intense. when I think of how many plant, bird, animal and insect species have Disappeared. when marine life die, tangled up in discarded fishing nets/lines or with stomachs full of plastic. when so many people who live in the suburbs insist on 'perfect green lawns' full of chemicals. When I consider that your average American just tosses their garbage bags/barrels out onto the sidewalk for pickup by the local sanitation department and yet don't give One Thought to where all their personal garbage is heading. no understanding of what a landfill actually looks like. no understanding that our landfills are full of your stuff and mine. When I think of all this, it makes my physically ill. Believe me, I do my part. I live and breathe every minute, to have as little impact on the planet as possible. But I know that most people in the world do the total opposite: they live life in a manner that has a severely negative impact on the planet, and frankly, they could care less. Ugh.
Maybe some people will finally stop eating them after seeing this. I bet no one will notice the Cuttlefish in that chair. This was the best documentary I have ever seen. It has everything: listening, context, adaptation, survival, life, love, delicacy, violence, emotions, intelligence. 👏👏👏👏👏. Sat on the sofa waiting for a psychiatrist like, “I swear Ive been abducted by aliens! Theyre running a bunch of tests on me! I keep swimming into invisible walls! Im surrounded by these messed up patterns everywhere, it hurts my eyes! I tried to hide, but I think they knew I could never blend in to such UGLY surroundings. I know this all sounds crazy, but. looking at the decor. Im pretty sure theyve taken me back in time to the 1960s!”.
